To request Globus be installed on your UPMC computer, please place a software request in the IT Service Portal.
Initial Setup
- Open Globus Connect Personal from the start menu
- Login with your Pitt account. Choose University of Pittsburgh as the organization
- We recommend leaving the label as the default. It should default to the computer’s name. Click “Allow”
- We recommend using the computer's name as the collection name. Do not check “High Assurance”
- Exit Setup

Adding additional locations to Globus (Network Drives, Data Drives, etc.)
Before Globus can access a location on your computer, you must manually add it to the client.
- Open Globus options from the notification tray in the lower right corner of the screen by right clicking the icon and selecting “Options ”.
- Click the “+” icon and select any additional folders/drives you want. Your mapped network shares should show up under “My Computer”.
Using Globus
- Open Globus from the notification tray in the lower right corner of the screen by right clicking the icon and selecting “Web: Transfer Files”.
- Set the view to “two pane” by clicking the button in the upper right corner of the window.
- Search for “pitt#dtn” as the Globus endpoint to connect to.
- Use the file browser to move files and folders as needed.
